Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:25
This is most likely the text that is used to keep people going to the “Church Building”. But sadly enough, the building has become the undoing of God’s people as we know it. Sure we have great programs in the building, we impact our community and the world with the different ministries operating within, we hosts events that draw our family, friends, and neighbors in to hear the gospel. But as we dissect the members that faithfully attend week after week, we start to notice a pattern. The pattern called systems! Many have fallen pray to this silent disease, that replaces a relationship with God, with routines and habits that mimic genuine faith and obedience to Him. The bible says,
For He was indeed crucified in weakness, yet He lives by God’s power. And though we are weak in Him, yet by God’s power we will live with Him to serve you. Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Can’t you see for yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you— unless you actually fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:4-5
If you were to ask any faithful building goers, how can they tell they are in the faith? Many will give you a list of things they do, or how many ministries they support, or how many times they attend service. Now there is nothing wrong with these things, as we should support ministries that are bringing the gospel to others. But this should never be a tool we are to measure our relationship to the Lord with. The church in Ephesus was the poster child in those days, for enduring and preserving in many good works! But our father wasn’t impressed. He had this to say to them “I have this against you:You have abandoned your first love. Rev 2:4″. This church abandoned the the simple obedience and devotion to him, and have replaced it with many works that ultimately gave people a false sense of security. You might say, well I read my word and journal everyday. I go out and sit near water to hear the birds sing and feel the wind caressing my skin. I feed the poor and homeless as I walk by them. I am kind to everyone I meet and I feel God all around me. But why then are you dry? Why then is your spirit dead, but alive and kicking to the things of this world? See, I have seen countless of people move prophetically, pray out loud with such earnest and vigor, cast out demons and have powerful ministries, Yet…. They love the things of this world. They refuse to let these things go. They have a balance with their religion and the world. They are saved in the morning and come evening time, they are entangled once again, and drunk with the things of this world.
You might be asking, but what role does going to a “Church Building” have to do with this? Simple! They are not producing in you a genuine response and faith to God. It has actually blinded you! It has you obeying a certain set of rules (no pants, no makeup, no jewelry, no shorts, pay your tithe, mandatory attendance, complete obedience to your pastor and leader, asking permission to do things outside “church”, approval from leaders to attend events at other “churches”, celebrating pagan holidays, and the list goes and on and on), all so that you are pleasing in the sight of men and not God. All so that you can build the reputation of your local church and leader, while more than half of the people that attend, aren’t even saved. How am I so sure? Their fruits! Many activities, yet no spiritual growth. Many prayer nights and fasting, yet refusing to repent and obey God. Many crying out for revival, yet after the meeting is done, go back home and do nothing!
It is a great thing to see God opening up the eyes of those that are seeking him with their whole hearts. Those that are no longer satisfied with just attending services, yet defeated by sin. Those that refuse to continue to sin against God, by participating in the traditions of men. Many are exiting Churchianity, because they are obeying the word of God telling them to come out of Babylon and not share in her sins, and receive any of her plaques, Revelation 18:4.
Brother and sisters in the Lord, this is the very hour that the Called Out Ones, need to cleanse herself from the stains of this world. I am by no means advocating that people leave their “Churches”. I am however, trying to open the eyes of the people trusting in this system to examine themselves and see if they are truly in the faith, by weighing themselves to the standard and obedience to the full counsel of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
God wrote: You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore you from captivity, Jeremiah 29:13-14. It is a call to let go of religion and systems, and seek God out for yourself.
Exiting Churchianity is not easy, but so necessary for your spiritual growth!
