The Gospel-God is Holy

For it is written, be ye holy for I am holy

1 Peter 1:16

What is Holiness

What trips people up, is the bold statement that God makes when He says, “I am, like no other God.” See God is Holy! Set apart from any other god in the universe. Separate in works, character, and being. He is the creator of all things under heaven and earth, and there will never be anyone like Him. But how could this be in the midst of the many gods in the world? Easy, none of them [other gods] created themselves and none of them can create anything. Yet God, has been here since the beginning, and is the creator of all things. (John 1:3, Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:16,Romans 1:20, Job 12:7 -10, Jeremiah 10:12).

… For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me

Isaiah 46:9

Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

Deuteronomy 4:39

For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods.

Psalms 95:3

You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.

Nehemiah 9:6

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

Revelations 4:11

Now this is in no way saying that God created other gods, these verses establishes the fact that God is supreme over all living things both in Heaven and on Earth. Men, because of their rebellion, has created their own gods to worship; not realizing that they are in fact worshiping demons. See, to fully understand and appreciate the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ, we have to establish this fact, God is not a created being, He is the Creator! And as the Creator, He has a purpose in mind with His creation. But sadly, many choose to go another path.

How can we understand God’s holiness?

To understand God’s holiness, we have to look at Jesus, the incarnate God (The Gospels). Through Jesus, we come to know who the father is. We get a clearer picture of the authority He has over demons, sickness, weather, and all he created. Furthermore, Jesus told us if we’ve seen Him, we’ve seen the father (John 14:9). See, God has always made the distinction between himself and the other god’s people are worshipping. God has shown himself to us in various forms but sadly as stated before, many in the world are following, submitting, and indoctrinating themselves with many false teachings; that ultimately warp their minds to the point of being unable to distinguish between truth and lies. They claim to have knowledge of divinity and offer steps to achieve enlightenment, yet take you down the road of death.

When Jesus walked among us, He carried a presence in Him that made Him a target of reticule and suspicion for the religious, and hope for the poor in spirit. No different than today! Those that claim to be religious ( Spiritual, Philosophical, New Ager, Athiest, those that follow traditions), and have insight into the spiritual realm, always get offended and angry when the true gospel is being preached. You don’t see them getting mad at false teachers who keep you drunk on the love of God and prosperity. No! They are offended when they are confronted about their sins. Why? Because of God’s holiness, His moral purity and authority, testifies of their sins. The words and life of Jesus exposes the emptiness of the many religion out in the world. God’s Holiness brings light to darkness and makes people uncomfortable.

Human’s like to suppress the truth by their wickedness. God made himself known to humanity by His invisible qualities, His Eternal Power and Divine Nature, being understood by what has been made, yet people choose to make gods for themselves out of trees and vain imaginations. ( Romans 1). gods that keep them subjugated to their various lusts, but never satisfies the longing they have been searching for.

Why is God’s Holiness, Good News?

Jesus has been preached to a good part of the whole world, and God has made himself known that He is the one and only true God and there is no other. He has made himself known that we are all sinners heading the wrong way. He has called the whole world to repentance. Understanding God’s holiness, will help us see clearly who we are. It is not by His love that we come know ourselves, it has always been through His holiness.

See, because God is separate, he hates sin (Habakkuk 1:13). Not that we cannot come into his presence as sinners (Hebrews 4:16), but that he himself has no darkness in him. God uses the sinful nature of mankind, to accomplish his purpose, to show forth his glory and to solidify His truth. But He also shows us, where we have failed and fall short from His standard.

Without this foundation that God is holy (separate from other gods) we open ourselves up to the lies and teachings of the other “gods” in this world. The lies and teaching of created beings who rebelled against their maker and are influencing you to do the same. The issue of this world is not so much about what is good or bad (knowledge the devil tempted Eve with in the garden; Genesis 3), it’s about what god do we follow, and how do we know we are following the correct one!?

God being Holy is fantastic news for humanity! It takes away the having to go through many Hoops and Jumps ( teachings, pilgrimages, many teachers, being in awkward positions and sweating) to know who you are and what you were created to be. You and I were created to serve God through Jesus Christ, because He is the only one that can fill the need of your longing heart. He is the only one, that can cut through our facade and get to the core of our being, to reveal who we truly are. Will you trust him today with your life? Will you lay your life down, and live it for your maker? If you have come to this place, please pray the prayer below. If not, may I ask why?

Prayer for Repentance: God I realize that I am a sinner and I repent from my wicked ways. I turn from darkness to light and put my trust in your son Jesus Christ for the salvation of my soul. I receive your Holy Spirit and surrender my life completely to you. Write my name in The Book of Life and open my eyes to this world. In Jesus name, Amen!

If you have prayed this prayer, welcome to the family of God. There is a party in heaven right now because you have surrendered your life to serve God, through Jesus Christ (Luke 15:7). The next step would be to read your bible daily. If you do not have a bible, please write to me at questions@asimplebeliever.com, and I would gladly send you one.

Be Blessed, brothers and sisters!

  1. Yes, God is Holy and God is love. He was here before the beginning of the earth. He always was and always will be.
