For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.Romans 1:16
The Gospel is about Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ is The Gospel!
Who is Jesus and What Was His Purpose?
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whomever shall believe in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. In the series The Gospel-We Are Sinners, I explain the need for a savior. Jesus is the only begotten son of God. His purpose was to save us from our sins and bring us into a right relationship with God.
Why is This The Good News?
In the beginning, Adam and Eve was spiritually connected to the father. They only had one command to follow, and this was to not eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge. When they did this, they became spiritually dead; disconnected from the Father. We must understand that this world and all that is in it, has a purpose. We were created for the purpose of serving God and being in fellowship with Him, but our sin separates us from Him because, God is Holy.
Once they sinned however, God provided a way for us to be in right standing with Him through His son Jesus Christ! See, once sinned entered this world, we became slaves to it and could not free ourselves from its bondage. The death and resurrection of Jesus did just that! He set us free from our sins, so that we can live a life that pleases God. He made it possible to be dead to sin, but alive in Christ.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.Romans 6
Why Was His Death and Resurrection Necessary?
He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but for the sins of the whole world.1 John 2:1
God gave the power to Jesus, to atone for our sins, through his death on the cross. Understand, that we do not get to choose how we are going to be pleasing to God. He has already decided the way.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.1 Peter 3:18
By his death on the cross, he brought us back from the dead, spiritually speaking; because of His resurrection, we no longer walk in darkness. By Jesus’s death, he cancelled the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands, by nailing it to the cross (Colossian 2:14), that through his death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that it, the devil (Hebrews 2:14).
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised; if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile. But Christ really has been raised from the dead. He is the first, of all those who will rise…1 Corinthians 15
Why is the Gospel Message Urgent?
It is appointed for man to die once, after this comes judgement.Hebrew 9:27
All men face two certain things, DEATH and JUDEGEMENT! We have been given the choice to choose whether we will repent and follow Jesus or turn our backs on His calling and end up in hell.
Hell was created for the Devil and his minions, NOT FOR US! But because of our hardened heart, we refuse to repent from our sins. But God is faithful and Just that he gives all a chance to respond to his urgent call… Will you?
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.2 Peter 3:9
